System requirements

XLS Padlock runs as an add-in on top of Microsoft Excel. The installer is a standalone, code-signed EXE built with Paquet Builder and requires administrator rights to install. End-user machines need no third-party runtime, just Excel itself.

OS: Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP SP3, Server 2003 to 2025
Excel: Excel 2024, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010 or Microsoft 365

End-user machines

OS: Windows 11, 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Server 2008 R2 or newer
Excel: A licensed copy of Excel 2010 or newer (same edition that compiled the EXE)

RAM: 256 MB minimum, 512 MB or more recommended
Disk: About 100 MB free space, more for protecting large workbooks
Display: 1280 x 800 or higher
Privileges: Administrator rights to install, standard user to run XLS Padlock

End-user machines

Network: Outbound HTTPS only when you enable online activation, otherwise fully offline
Runtime: No .NET, no Visual C++ redist, no third-party runtime needed
